After School Enrichment

Throughout the year, selected companies offer their after school programs at Katherine Elementary. Katherine PTA sometimes facilitates these programs if there is an Enrichment chairperson available.


Angel Giving Tree & Donation Food Drive

Katherine Croc families give back to their community! Each year we work with the Salvation Army and collect gift donations via the Angel Giving Tree. We also do a food drive to collect holiday meal supplies for local families in need.

Book Fair

Twice a year Katherine PTA sponsors a book fair for our Croc families. A vendor brings a selection of books and items to the school. Students are allowed to shop during recess and/or afterschool. Traditionally the book fairs are open during conferences and sometimes other special events.


This program was introduced in the 2017-18 school year. During the scheduled Croc-O-Mile season, students are encouraged to get up and get moving one day a week before school starts. From 7:50-8:10 am students can walk, run, or dance their way around our track to get their heart pumping. Students can earn cool prizes for completing a certain amount of miles! (Parents are welcome to participate as long as they sign in at the front office prior to being on the field.)

Family Pancake Breakfast

Every year Katherine PTA sponsors this family event. Families are invited to come enjoy pancakes, bacon, fresh fruit, and beverages in the MPR. 

Holiday Social

Katherine’s Holiday Social is a longstanding holiday tradition at our school. Every year families come enjoy crafts and treats to celebrate the holiday season. Photo-ops with a snowman and Santa Claus are traditionally provided for those who wish to participate.

Honorary Service Awards (H.S.A.)

Honorary Service Awards recognize the service and dedication of both individuals and organizations for their work benefitting our school and community. As an official unit of National PTA, Katherine Elementary PTA can use these awards to honor or say thank you to people who go above and beyond. The program includes the Very Special Person Award, the Honorary Service Award, the Continuing Service Award, the Golden Oak Service Award, the Outstanding Teacher Award, and the Outstanding Administrator Award.

Junior Olympics & Field Day

Junior Olympics an annual event put on by the Simi Valley PTA/PTSA council. Students in 4ththrough 6thgrade from all Simi schools participate in the annual athletic competition. Students start out by participating in Field Day, where they can try their hand at the various get-moving activities. A team of students is then selected to represent Katherine Elementary at the Junior Olympics event.

Katherine’s Crazy Carnival & Silent Auction

The annual Carnival and Silent Auction are two of Katherine Elementary’s biggest fundraising events. This event features fun activities, food, prizes, and games for all ages. The Silent Auction offers items that have donated by school families, local and nationwide businesses. Our teachers and staff often donate unique opportunities like Principal for a Day and Lunch with a Teacher, too.

Katherine’s Got Talent (Talent Show)

Our annual Talent Show shows off all the wonderful talents Katherine Croc students have to offer. Try-outs are held for the event. Katherine staff coordinates all talent selection. Katherine PTA provides support services and coordinates food items.

Red Ribbon Week

This annual nationwide event is celebrated at Katherine Elementary to promote healthy lifestyle choices. The theme varies by year, but traditional students are invited to participate in themed dress up days, which befit the theme.


The National PTA Reflections Program is an arts recognition and achievement program for students. The Reflections Program provides opportunities for students to express themselves creatively and to receive positive recognition for original works of art inspired by a pre-selected theme, while increasing community awareness of the importance of the arts in education. R.I.F. (Reading Is Fundamental)

Reading Is Fundamental is a annual book give away at our school. Once a year (sometimes twice), every student is able to shop from hundreds of age appropriate books and select at least one to keep. These books are provided free of charge by the PTA. 


Spirit Wear

Katherine Crocs Rock and love to show their spirit! Students are encouraged to wear Spirit Wear or Katherine colors (green and blue) on Fridays. Spirit Wear is coordinated and sold by Katherine PTA.

Spring Fling

The Spring Fling is a fun annual event where Katherine Croc families are invited to come dance the night away. The event’s theme varies every year.

Teacher & Staff Appreciation

Katherine Crocs love their teachers, staff, and Principal! Every year we let them know by celebrating Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week and Principal’s Day. 

Teacher Reveal & Ice Cream Social

Class lists are posted the day before school starts, so Katherine PTA hosts a party to celebrate the beginning of the new school year. Families are invited to come meet their new teacher and enjoy some sweet treats. The PTA is on hand with opportunities to purchase memberships, yearbooks, spirit wear and answer questions about volunteering at the school.


This Halloween themed event brings trick-o-treating to our school parking lot in a safe evening event. Costumes are encouraged and families are invited to bring their own decorated trunk to the event. The PTA provides the candy and non-food treat items! Other activities and food may be available.

Walk to School Day

National Walk to School Day is a nationwide event. Katherine Crocs participate in this annual event by gathering at nearby Arroyo Stow Park before school starts and walking to school as a group. Teachers and families all participate. Local law enforcement, community leaders, government officials, and the one and only Katherine Crocodile often escort the group!


The yearbook is produced by Katherine PTA and made available for families to purchase.
